Editor-in-Chief Role Available at Immunology Journal Vaccines
Vaccines (ISSN 2076-393X, http://www.mdpi.com/journal/vaccines) is an international, peer-reviewed, open access journal published online by MDPI, Basel, Switzerland. It focuses on laboratory and clinical vaccine research, utilization, and immunization. The journal also acts as a platform for exchanging ideas and thoughts about the impacts of research in the field of vaccines. We are seeking a visionary Editor-in-Chief to take over this role from Prof. Diane Harper and lead this initiative.
Vaccines is indexed in the Science Citation Index Expanded (SCIE) in Web of Science, PubMed (NLM), as well as Scopus (CiteScore 4.94) and other indexing services. The journal is due to receive its first Journal Impact Factor based on Web of Science data in this year's release of the Journal Citation Reports in mid-2019.
The Editor-in-Chief position requires a strong research background, broad scientific interests, support for our mission and values, and a commitment to providing a high-quality experience to our authors. A successful candidate will demonstrate dedication to serving the scientific community, enthusiasm for communicating science to a broad readership, and the ability to lead the Editorial Board. Interested applicants with a current academic appointment who are seeking new challenges in an editorial/publishing role are encouraged to apply. Previous editorial and/or management experience is preferred. The key qualities we look for are breadth of scientific interest and curiosity, the ability to think conceptually and critically on a wide range of scientific issues, strong communication skills, and leadership ability. The duties of the position entail the following:
- Redefining the journal's aims and scope (the existing aims and scope can be viewed here: https://www.mdpi.com/journal/vaccines/about
- Assisting with inviting additional scientists to join the Editorial Board;
- Suggestions of topics for Special Issues or hot topics;
- Overview of the editorial process (mainly making the final decision on whether a paper can be published after peer review and revisions
The term for the Editor-in-Chief position is 2 years and can be renewed.
